Room by Room: Guest Bathroom

Another small room, another opportunity to use red! This bathroom is only 9' x 4' and with the tile wainscot, the red doesn't overwhelm.

Room By Room: Craft Room

We usually refer to this as the Yellow Room as it's become more than just a craft room. I do have a dedicated space for sewing and the kids can paint, draw, sculpt, etc, but it's also good for homework and playdates. There's also a pair of french doors that lead out to the backyard so the kids can run out and play or get really messy with their art!

Exterior Shutters

We finally tackled the exterior shutters. After they sat in the garage for 6 months, we somehow found time in our busy schedules to prime and paint them, then did some online research on how to install them.
We purchased our shutters locally and the company will prime, paint and install as well, but we'd come this far doing so much of our own work, we thought what's the big deal with a couple of shutters?

Room by Room: Master BR Closet

OK, maybe not really a room, but in any case, I love our walk-in closet! The wallpaper and beadboard make me smile, maybe even more so because we put them in ourselves :-)


Having never installed wallpaper, I, of course, did some research online as well as checking out some books from our local library. The prep work, always the most important step, was thankfully minimal in our case, since the wall was brand new and I had asked the painter to only prime the drywall.

Room by Room - The Little Pink Pantry

Storage.  Modern life is all about having enough storage to corral all your 'stuff'.  And thank goodness for my Little Pink Pantry.  Nowadays, she keeps everything organized and easy for me to see and reach.  But life wasn't always so rosy for Little Pink Pantry.

This is how Little Pink Pantry looked the last 3 or 4 months.  Sure she's got the pretty pink beadboard and she even has some shelf cleats, but alas, no shelving so everything's in piles on the floor (cue little teardrop).

Room by Room - Laundry/Mudroom

Ta da! The Laundry/Mudroom is now complete! The bench was finally installed this evening.

Room By Room: Kitchen

We've been in our house now for over 4 months. I love our kitchen - when I'm making the kids' school lunches or feeding them at the island or baking a pie, the kitchen works the way I had imagined, hoped and planned. It's filled with little features that work for our family.

Room by Room - Entry

I've gotten a bit of flack from some of our friends who've been wondering, "So what's up with the house? What's the final product look like????"

Well, I like to think every home is a work in progress, even after you're all moved in, things are unpacked, artwork is up, etc. - not to say that we've even finished doing those things!

With that as a caveat, I'll try to provide a quick tour through most of the house. First stop, the Entry.
